This week we were visited by Food Network star.....Paula Deen!
She was taking an trip through Alaska for the January issue of her Magazine,
Cooking with Paula Deen.
She and her husband were really nice and made me laugh a lot! It was great to have something fun happen this week because we didn't take very many tours.
As the season goes on more people start to leave camp and go back home. Last night we had a bon-fire at sunset cove to say goodbye to one of our friends (Tessa) who is leaving. The fire was so warm and faint beginnings of the meteor shower went on above our heads. Summer in Alaska is the best!
Today I woke up early and ran 5 miles from the crew housing to the glacier. Right when I started feeling tired I noticed this older woman from across the road coming up from behind me. She was running sightly faster than me and really made me work harder to keep up with her. It was awesome to be pushed, but right before we reached the glacier she turned around. (I would have liked to say thanks to her for making me run faster!) I walked to the water, stretched, and felt the cool breeze from the glacier. It was an amazing way to start the day. I love when small things happen and severely brighten your day. It had been a week of beautiful surprises. Have a lovely week!-Kym

Mushing with the Stars,a new reality show! I don't get the tv station, but I saw Ms. Deen on Oprah not long ago. She seems genuinely sweet.
I for one would love to see picks of day to day life on the glacier. Is that possible? I think it would be cool if AIE would post daily weather happenings on the glacier. You have a good week too!
That's so cool!
Hey, did Jillian leave the glacier? Her blog has trees :)
Jillian is still on the glacier. After a summer on the glacier we all miss trees....
